Alida Mae Leimbach (nee van der Oord) 83, of Brownhelm, died Friday, August 27, 2010 at her home after a short illness. Born December 31, 1926 in Detroit, she had been a Brownhelm resident most of her life. She graduated from Brownhelm High School Class of 1944. She was a member of the Brownhelm Congregational United Church of Christ where she had been moderator and active in women's fellowship and a member of the Brownhelm Historical Association. Alida loved gardening, enjoyed bowling, reading and was a member of the First Ladies Golf League and the Amherst Workshop Players. She was a charter member of the "Once a Month Club" with her husband, Ralph, was an avid bridge player, and was renowned for her cooking and entertaining. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Ehrlich, Signal Mountain, TN and Amy (James) McGuire, Galion; son, Robert L (Vicki) Leimbach, Birmingham; grandchildren, Amy, Jody, Sarah, Richard, Maggie, Samantha, and Jim; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Margaret (Hubert) Bates, Amherst, Elene (Joe) Mayer, Vermilion, Dorothy (Wilbert) Spence, Horton, Michigan and many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Margaret (nee Monaghan) van der Oord, husband, Ralph Leimbach, 2004; son, Peter Leimbach, 1987 and a brother, Larry van der Oord. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 29, 2010 from 2-5 p.m. at the family home. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Brownhelm Congregational United Church of Christ, 2144 North Ridge Road, Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend Elizabeth Terrell will officiate. Interment will follow at Brownhelm Cemetery.
