Anita Joyce Cook (nee Scarborough), 75, of Vermilion, died Sunday, October 2, 2022 at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born November 1, 1946 in Memphis, TN and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 59 years moving from Memphis.
Anita had worked as a bookkeeper for Erie County Bank.
She was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church, Vermilion where she taught Sunday School to 1st and 2nd grade children. She was also involved with the Awanas Program and started the WINGS and Giving Tree programs at Lakeview Baptist Church. Anita enjoyed gardening, crafts, needlepoint, ceramics, volunteering and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Harry L. Cook of Vermilion; daughters, Nancy (Kip) Kalizewski of Fremont and Denise McKee of Amherst; grandchildren, Tyler (Rachel) Kalizewski of Vermilion, Amy Kalizewski of Vermilion, Leah McKee of Amherst, Kendra McKee of Amherst, Michael McKee of Amherst and Ryan McKee of Amherst; great-granddaughter, Willow Rose Kalizewski; and her sister, Nancy Lorene Rhodes of Vermilion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl T. and Alcoba Lorene (nee Dycus) Scarborough and her sister, Shirley Ann Scarborough.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 Noon at Lakeview Baptist Church, 591 Ferndale Ave., Vermilion, OH. Rev. Cliff Morris will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
