Anita Lynette Mehnert (nee Ollis), 68, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at her home after a lengthy illness with cancer. Anita was born January 5, 1944 in Richlands, VA and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 59 years moving from Virginia. She worked at Stroman's Day Care, Blakley's Dairy Bar and at Lehky's farm. She was a member of United Church of Christ Congregational, Vermilion where she was involved in the women's groups and helped establish the annual turkey dinners. Her favorite activities included Bible Study and teaching Sunday School. Anita was very involved with her children's grade school activities. She was skilled at crocheting and cross stitch. She enjoyed creative activities including stamping, cake decorating and candy making. She also enjoyed her flower garden, vegetable garden, and most of all her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Warren L. Mehnert of Vermilion, daughters, Debora (Dan) Fuchs of Delaware, OH and Susan (Mike) Salata of Murrysville, PA; son, Leon (Teresa) Mehnert of Gahanna, OH; grandchildren, Carmen, Grace, Alaina, Luke, and Thomas, great granddaughter, Lily; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Jean (Rich) Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Nell (nee Curley) Ollis; and brothers, Dariel and Ron Ollis. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 29, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the funeral home. The Reverends Bob Richardson and Louis Bertoni will co-officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Food Pantry, P.O. Box 228, Vermilion, Ohio 44089.
