Bernard Busser, 88, of Lorain, died Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Ames Family House, Hospice of the Western Reserve, Westlake after a lengthy illness. Bernard was born December 2, 1925 in Lorain and had been a resident of both South Amherst and Vermilion. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines serving for 4 years on the Great Lakes during WWII. Bernard owned and operated Busser Tire in Lorain for 31 years. He had been a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, Lorain, and St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Delores Estella Busser (nee Sugaski) of Lorain; daughters, Shermane (Larry) Smith of Lorain and Bernadette (Neil) Dorries of Wakeman; granddaughters, Heather, Brook and Michelle; great grandsons, Conner, Jason, and Jeremy; great granddaughters, Grace, Olivia and Samantha; brother, Richard Busser of Amherst and sister, Audrey Alten of Amherst. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Gertrude (nee Smith) Busser and a sister, Dolores Stock. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 26, 2014 from 3 - 6 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street,Vermilion. Friends may also call on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 11 a.m. until the time of prayers at 12 noon at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Father Ron Brickner will officiate.
