Charles "Ray" Trippett, 82, of Vermilion, died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born July 10, 1927 in Elizabeth, WV and had lived in Vermilion 55 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1944-1950. He was a materials handler for Ford Motor for 25 years, retiring in 1985. He was a life member of AMVETS Post #22, Vermilon. He enjoyed golf, playing cards, horseshoes, singing, and dancing. He liked to watch NASCAR and loved family gatherings where he could spend time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Kathryn (nee Dulaney), daughters, Mary (Paul) Freeman of Vermilion, Norma (Grover) Simpson of Rockwood, MI, Diana (Rick) Spencer of Rockwood, MI, sons, Thomas (Karon) Trippett of Vermilion, and Paul (Peggy) Trippett of LaGrange, KY; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; brother, Roy Trippett of Parkersburg, WV and sister, Edna Miller of Parkersburg, WV. Preceding him in death were his parents, Kelly and Anna (nee Gabbert) Trippett; infant daughter, Janet; granddaughter, Kimberly Trippett; great grandchildren, Cody and Nathan Baxter and 6 brothers. Friends may call Tuesday, May 18, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 11 a.m.. The Reverend Jim Cooper will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military graveside services.
