Clare Ivey

February 21, 1926 — January 21, 2007

Clare Ivey (nee Gallagher), 80 of Vermilion, died Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Admiral's Pointe Health Care Center in Huron following a lengthy illness. She was born February 21, 1926 in Cleveland and graduated from West Tech High School. She has lived full time in Vermilion for the past 10 years and summering at their cottage in Volunteer Bay for over 40 years. She had formerly lived in Parma. She was a full-time career woman, holding various positions with the Independent Towel Company, Ohio Bell Telephone Company, Thompson Products, Tony LaRich Chevrolet and Cleveland Motor Parts, all in Cleveland. She had also volunteered her time as a poll worker at the voting booths. She enjoyed many family-oriented activities, perch fishing on Lake Erie and shopping. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert Ivey of Vermilion; daughters, Kathleen (Hank) Picozzi of Ft. Meyers, FL, Deborah (Robert) Derry of St. Petersburg, FL, Denise (Mike)Telep of North Royalton, OH and Susan (Karen Leonard) Ivey of Knoxville, TN; 10 grandchildren. She was preceded-in-death by her parents, Martin and Katherine (nee Moran) Gallagher and 2 sisters, Anne Marie Krasnosky and Kathleen Gallagher. Friends will be received on Thursday, January 25, 2007 from 1:00 pm until the time of funeral service at 4:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Fr. Jim Holmer, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion, will be the celebrant. Burial will be on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 10:00 am in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mason Road, Vermilion. Memorial contributions maybe made to Alzheimer's Association Northwest OH Chapter, 2500 North Reynolds Road, Toledo, Ohio 43615-2820.
