David A. Nash, 88, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Mercy New Life Hospice in Vermilion following a prolonged illness.
Born on February 22, 1936, in Cleveland, OH, David had called Vermilion home for the past 49 years after relocating from Lakewood.
David proudly served in the United States Army and National Guard. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1953 before furthering his education at Ohio University.
For 31 years, David dedicated himself to Glidden Paints, excelling in Inventory Management until his retirement in 1999.
A devout member of St. Mary Catholic Parish in Vermilion, David found joy in gardening, family gatherings, and his passion for classic cars, tall ships, and music. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and his family values and traditions. He will be dearly missed, but his family will have a life time of memories to cherish.
He is survived by his children: William (Nancy) Nash of Stow, Thomas Nash of Lakewood, Kelley (Adam) Reed of Cleveland, Colleen (Stephen) Ulbrich of Albany, and Daniel (Christine) Nash of Lorain. He is also remembered fondly by his 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and several niece and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Zita Nash in 2022, his parents Howard Henry and Sarah Helen (nee KIingensmith) Nash, his brothers C. Daniel and John Nash, and daughter-in-law Debra Nash.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the commencement of a prayer service at 11:30 a.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A mass of Christian Burial will then be held at 12 Noon at St. Mary Catholic Parish, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH 44089, followed by interment at Lakewood Park Cemetery in Rocky River, where the Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
