David "Dave" Folkens, 74, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Seneca House, Tiffin after a lengthy illness. He was born December 1, 1941 in Canonsburg, PA and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 50 years moving from PA. He served in the Air National Guard and worked as a supervisor for Ford Motor Co., Lorain, for 30 years retiring in 1995. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was also a member of AMVETS Post 22 and a life member of the Lions Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing on the couples league with his wife, Betty. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren's activities. He is survived by his daughters, Paula (David) Pauly of Tiffin and Lisa (Robert) Lord of Mentor; son, Douglas (Sharon) Folkens of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Maxwell, Spencer, Rachel, Ross, Alyson, Brytnie, Nicholas, Benjamin, Olivia, Jacob, and Madeline, brother, Joseph "Skip" (Joan) Folkens of PA, and sisters, June (Blaine-deceased) Wright, Joanne (Lynn) Stollar, and Wilma Newman all of PA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Folkens, in 2014 and parents, Joseph and Ethel (nee Carlisle) Folkens. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 5-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Pastor David Hull-Frye will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
