David Edwin Henderson, 54, of Vermilion, died Sunday, April 3, 2016 at his home after a lengthy illness. David was born December 5, 1961 in San Diego, CA and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 42 years moving from Lorain. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during Gulf War. David worked as a serviceman for the City of Vermilion for 26 years retiring in 2013. He was a member of Harbourtown Community Church, Vermilion, a life member of AMVETS Post #22, American Legion Post #397, and VFW Post #7576. He enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, restoring cars, yard work, and car shows. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Henderson of Vermilion; sons, Chad (Robin) Henderson and Luke Henderson both of Vermilion; daughter, Carey Henderson of Vermilion; mother, Bonnye (nee Sadler) Martinez of Vermilion; grandchildren: Haylie and Alexis; and sisters, Toy Henderson of Pinebluff, NC and Pennye Jo Davis of Wellington. He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce David Henderson. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 3-7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Riddle Funeral Home. The Vermilion Veterans council will present military honors at just prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. The Reverend Jim Cooper will officiate.
