Earl Fate, 83, of Lorain, died peacefully Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born January 21, 1934 in Marion, OH to the late Watson and Pearl (nee Jackson) Fate. He had been a lifelong Lorain resident. Earl graduated from Lorain High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed by the Freuhauf Trailer and then the Lorain Ford Plant where he worked for 28 years retiring in 1992. Earl was a member of St. Peter Parish, Lorain, Knights of Columbus, UAW #425, and I.A.V Post #1. He enjoyed watching sports and playing golf. He is survived by son, David (Diane) Fate of Lorain; daughter Diane (Peter Mitchell) Fate of Westlake; his granddaughter Taylor Fate; and nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Fate in 1992; infant brother, Vernon Dale Fate; brother,Watson Fate Jr.; and his sisters, Martha Bogden and Cheryl Heinebrodt. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 4-6 pm at the Dombrowski-Riddle Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain OH. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Deacon Jay Ogden will officiate. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
