Earlene Joann Pavlich

Earlene Joann "Butch" Pavlich (née Hovey), 85, of Vermilion, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Mercy Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Born on October 1, 1939, in Elyria, OH, Earlene had been a proud resident of Vermilion for the past 68 years after moving from Lorain.

A devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion, Earlene served as a Eucharistic minister and frequently visited nursing homes on behalf of the church. She was also active in her community, serving on the Board of Elections as a poll worker, previously serving as a Girl Scout leader and teacher's aide. In her free time, she enjoyed volunteering at Grace's Kitchen, reading, tole painting, quilting, sewing, and cross-stitching.

Butch is survived by her loving children, Tracie (Jay) McBride of Sheffield Village, Bruce (Shelly) Pavlich of McClure, OH, and Brent (Bird Falbo) Pavlich of Amherst; 13 cherished grandchildren: Justin (Rachel), Blake, Brett, Matthew, Christopher, Makenzie, Samuel, Sean (Heather), Dan, Andrew (Britney), Anne (Sam), Sam (Amanda), and Tyler (Elena); four great-grandchildren: C.J., Addelynne, Beckham, Gwenyth and Luca; and her brothers, Ralph Hovey of Fountain, CO, and Neal Hovey of Biscuit City, RI.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter S. Pavlich, Jr., in 2022; her daughter, Andrea Kay Pavlich, in 2000 her parents, Earl and Josephine (née Black) Hovey,  her sisters, Helen Oakford and Gene Koker; and her brothers, Bill Hovey and Raymond Hovey.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Friendship Animal Protective League of Lorain County, Inc. 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
