Ed H. McGlothlin, 88, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness. He was born April 13, 1927 in Grundy, VA, and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 53 years moving from Virginia. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Germany during WWII. Ed worked for Ford Motor Co. as an Assembler retiring in 1991. After he retired from Ford, Ed worked at Giant Eagle for 15 years. He had been a member of Little Edna Baptist Church, Lorain, Ely Lodge #424, and Local Union #425. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, fishing,and hunting. He was very social and enjoyed being around people. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Food Pantry in Elyria. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Myrtle McGlothlin (nee Deel) ; son, Ronnie E. (Jean) McGlothlin and Tommy C. McGlothlin both of Vermilion; 3 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Nellie Street of Grundy, VA; half brother, Frank McGlothlin of Grundy, VA; and half sister, Edie Ruth Justice of Grundy, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Jenny (nee Looney) McGlothlin, his step mother, Pearl (nee Dales) McGlothlin, and several brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016 from 12 noon until 2:30 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH.
