Edward Winiasz

Edward "Abe" Winiasz, age 85, of Lorain, died Thursday, August 21, 2003 in Community Health Partners following a short illness. He was born on August 26, 1917 in Lorain, Ohio and was a lifelong resident. Mr. Winiasz was a graduate of Lorain High School and attended Ohio State University. He worked as an engineer for Thew Shovel in Lorain until 1954. At that time, he founded IDS (Industrial Design Studio), now known as ADI (Advanced Design Industries). He retired in 1988. He was a member of the St. Mary Ukranian Orthodox Church. He enjoyed musical intruments, especially the guitar and banjo. He also enjoyed reading and writing poetry and woodworking. Survivors include his sons, Michael of Lorain, Jerry of Amherst and Thomas of Vermilion. He also has 6 grandchildren. He was preceded-in-death by his dear wife, Ethel (nee Nath), parents, John and Sophie (nee Livitska) Winiasz and a brother, Michael. Friends may call on Sunday, August 24, 2003 from 4-8pm at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be on Monday, August 25, 2003 at 10:00am at the funeral home with the Reverend Vasiliy Shtelen, pastor of St. Mary Ukranian Orthodox Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
