Eleanor Veronica Saltis (nee Sadowski), 86, of Lorain, died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Mercy Regional Hospital after a short illness. Eleanor was born June 4, 1925 in Lorain,Ohio and has been a lifelong resident. She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Lorain and had been active in the Altar Guild. She enjoyed dancing, embroidery, ceramics and cooking. As a young woman she worked at American Shipyards, Lorain. She is survived by husband of 65 years, Gilbert Saltis; 3 sons, , Eugene Saltis of Mission Viejo, CA, Thomas (Deborah) Saltis of Vermilion, and Denis Saltis of Lorain; daughter, Diane (Michael) Zagrobelny of Altamonte Springs, FL; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and a brother, Eugene Sadowski of Amherst. She was preceded in death by her parents, Florian and Katherine (nee Blasieski) Sadowski; 3 sisters, Adeline Prososki, Bernice Bach, Jeannette Bereznak; and brothers, Milton and Alphonse Sadowski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 418 W. 15th St., Lorain, Ohio, Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 at 9:30 a.m.. Father Robert J. Glepko, pastor, will officiate. The family requests that everyone meet at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. In lieu of flowers the family suggests making a contribution for a memorial mass at the parish of the donor's choice or the American Heart Association, Box 634445, Cincinnati, Ohio 45263.
