Eugene H. Yohn

Eugene H. Yohn, 76 of Vermilion, went home to heaven to meet his Lord on Sunday, January 18, 2009. He was born March 19, 1932 in Mansfield, and had lived in Vermilion since 1980. He served in the Naval Reserves for 8 years from 1950-1958. Eugene worked as a printer for the Horvitz Corporation (Mansfield Journal) in Mansfield until 1966. He then transferred to the Lorain Morning Journal until 1977. He moved into a position as a mechanical superintendent for the Nordson Corp. in Amherst, retiring in 1994. Eugene then worked part-time at Sharpnack Chevrolet in Vermilion for 6 years. He was a member of the Church of the Redeemer in Lorain, Nordson's Professional Management Club, and AMVETS Post 22 in Vermilion. Eugene enjoyed golfing, woodworking, fishing and hunting. He and his wife enjoyed camping for the past 20 years in Ohio. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Marlys (nee Cutlip) Yohn of Vermilion; sons, Gerald Yohn of Sheffield Lake and Gregory Yohn of Lorain; 2 grandchildren; brother, Robert Yohn of Mansfield. He was preceded-in-death by his parents, Ira and Dora (nee Gygax) Yohn. A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 11 am at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Reverend Stephen Sedgewick, pastor at the Church of the Redeemer in Lorain, will officiate. Veteran Honors will be conducted by the Vermilion Veteran's Council. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association of Ohio, 226 State Rt. 61, Norwalk, Ohio 44857-9705 or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 401 Tomahawk Drive, Maumee, OH 43537.
