Evelyn Hale Hurley

Evelyn Hale Hurley (nee Crace), 93, of Vermilion, died Nov. 1, 2011 at Kingston of Vermilion after a seven month illness. Evelyn was born July 1, 1918 in Letcher County, KY. She had been a Vermilion resident for the past 3 years moving from Mims, FL . She retired from Sears Department store where she worked as a switchboard operator and in the purchasing department. She was a member of the Stone Methodist Church, Stone, KY and St. Andrews Methodist Church, Titusville, FL. She was a member of Eastern Star. Evelyn enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She is survived by her 3 sons, Tom Hale (and his companion, Marlene Young) of Vermilion, Clifford (Anita) Hale of Vermilion, Durward (Bonnie) Hale of Prestonsburg, KY; grandchildren, Lisa Hale, Scott (Emma) Hale, Doris Evelyn Heberer Joyce Hale, Eric Jeffrey (Lisa) Hale, Tonia (Jay) Goyal and John Gavin Hale; great grandchildren, Nathan, Bheem, LeeAnn, Cora, Erin and Lexy; 1 great great grandchild; step son, Darrel Hurley of KY; step grand daughters, Merissa and Amanda Hurley; half sister, Imogene Burke of Wyoming, MI and half brother, Billy Crace of SC. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, John B Hale, 2nd husband, Oliver "Jack" Hurley, parents, Noah "Dock" Campbell Crase and Arasoney Gail Cheeks Crace; step son, Bruce Hurley, sisters, Madge Spears, Vaudy Whitacre, and Georgia Coppola, brother, Robert Crace, and half brother, James Crace. A graveside service will be held in Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Huddy, KY. Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio is in charge of local arrangements.
