Gordon D. Mcdaniel

Gordon D. McDaniel Jr., 67 of Vermilion, died Thursday, July 10, 2008 in EMH Regional Health Center after a sudden illness. He was born February 17, 1941 in Cherokee, Kansas. He has been a Vermilion area resident for the past 18 years moving from Zanesville and growing up in Cumberland, OH. He worked as a Sheet Metal Worker for 35 years with the Local Union #24, Columbus and Local Union #33, Vermilion. He had been a member of the First Baptist Church, Zanesville. He attended St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church and Lakeview Baptist Church in Vermilion. He was a member of the Ely Masonic Lodge #424, Vermilion and the Motor Cycle Riders Association. He enjoyed motorcycles and photography, especially capturing wedding moments. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Kelly McDaniel; mother, F. Katharine (nee Andrews) McDaniel; daughter, Nikki McDaniel of Elyria; 4 sons: Rod (Amy) McDaniel of Zanesville; Tim (Tina) McDaniel of Hopewell, OH; Sean (Jenna) Poole of Vermilion; and Kristopher McDaniel of Vermilion; 3 brothers: Tom (Laura) McDaniel of Roy, WA; Denny (Mary) McDaniel of Cumberland, OH; and Mike (Joanne) McDaniel of Byesville, OH; and 8 grandchildren: Megan, Josh, Hanna, Hunter, Corey, Darius, Bryce, and Delilah. He was preceded in death by his father Gordon D. McDaniel Sr. The family will receive friends on Sunday July 13, 2008 at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion from 3 pm until the time of a Masonic Service and Funeral Service at 6:00 pm. Rev. Guy Morton will officiate. Friends may also call Monday, July 14, 2008 at the Buffalo Presbyterian Church, 302 W. Main St. Cumberland, OH from 12:00 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm with the Pastor Jim Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association Northwest Ohio , 1689 East 115 Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44106-3988.
