Hobert D Hardwick, 74 of Wakeman, died Thursday, February 26, 2004 in Community Health Partners West after a lengthy illness. He was born May 26, 1929 in Kidder, Kentucky and has been a Birmingham area resident since 1965 moving from Amherst. He worked as a Machinist for the Cleveland Quarries for 44 years retiring in 1991. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Vermilion and Back Yard Street Rodders. He enjoyed rebuilding cars and trucks, fishing, watching NASCAR, and participating on a crew for Super Modified Racing. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Verna Hardwick (nee Combest), Son, Jerry Lee Hardwick of Wakeman, Ohio 2 Daughters, Janice Hardwick of Wakeman, and Joyce Smith of Vermilion, OH , 4 Grandchildren, 4 Brothers, Oval Hardwick of Bronston, KY, Gary Hardwick of Bronston, KY, Bryant Hardwick of Nancy, KY, and Donny Hardwick of Nancy, KY; 6 Sisters, Zona Bowling of Cincinnati, OH, Ada Rednour of Cincinnati, OH, Mae Crabtree of Wakeman, OH, Lucille Hudson of Somerset, KY, Francis Williams of Somerset, KY, and Joyce Hudson of Somerset, KY. Preceding him in death were his parents, Joda and Otta Mae (nee Thompson) Hardwick, and 2 brothers; Cecil and Darrel Hardwick. Friends may call Sunday Feb. 29, 2004 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home 5345 South St. Vermilion, OH 44089. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday March 1, 2004 at 10 am with the Rev. Mark Wilke, pastor of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church, Amherst, officiating. Burial will follow in Rugby Cemetery, Vermilion.
