Hubert Hobson, 75, of Vermilion, died Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Oak Hills Nursing Center after a lengthy illness. Hubert was born March 18, 1939 in Pikeville, KY and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 26 years moving from KY. He enjoyed being a volunteer Fire Fighter with the Pikeville Fire Department and also helping the Vermilion Police Department. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Vermilion. Hubert enjoyed biking, walking, watching wrestling on TV, going to flee markets, gardening, listening to Christian and Rock music, and especially enjoyed the company of friends and family. He is survived by his sister, Ann (Mark Novak) Ward of Vermilion; brother, John D. Hobson of Vermilion; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Georgia (nee Robinson); sister, Virginia Poe; brothers, George and Ernest Hobson; nephew, Ben Hobson, and sister-in-law, Nancy Hobson. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014 from 6-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 8, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Cliff Morris will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
