Irene Yurovich, (nee Gutowska) age 83, of Vermilion, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, after an unexpected illness. Irene was born November 9, 1931, in Auboue´, France. She was orphaned at a young age, and grew up there during the Second World War. This beautiful French gal married a handsome American soldier and came to the States on a transport ship. She has been a Vermilion resident since 1958, and became a naturalized US American citizen in 1979. Irene was employed outside the home until her retirement, but was always a homemaker. She excelled at cooking and gardening, and made many friends going to auctions, estate sales and flea markets. She dedicated her life to her family and made many sacrifices for her husband, daughters, and their families. She was always able to make loved ones laugh, whether she was trying to or not. She was loved and admired by all who knew her, and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, William; daughters Deborah (Don) Berlekamp of Perrysburg, and Dorthie Yurovich-Carlson of Janesville, WI; grandchildren David, Lauren, Cory, Michael, Whitney, Leif, Lindsey, Hunter, Jennifer, and James; great grandchildren, Jordan, Dmitiri, Olivia, Emily, and Chance. She was preceded in death by her daughter Beatrice, and parents Adam Gutowski and Stanislava Gutowska (nee Falenska), and sisters Kasimir Kania (from Poland), and Sophie Krebs (France). It is unknown whether she is survived by her sister Jane Perrin (France). The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 11th, 2015 from 12 pm until the time of the service at 2 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion.
