James D Wilson

James D. Wilson, 52, of Amherst, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at St. John West Shore Hospital following a brief illness.

Born on January 21, 1973, in Lorain, Ohio, James had lived in Amherst for the past eight years after relocating from Berlin Heights.

Throughout his life, James worked in a variety of roles, most recently in construction with Oglesby Construction. He was a former member of Ely Lodge #424 of the Masons and enjoyed the camaraderie and traditions of the organization.

An avid outdoorsman, James found joy in camping, hunting, fishing, and boating. Above all, he was a devoted family man who led with strong values and a desire to teach by example. Time spent with his grandchildren and his dog, Jedward brought him the greatest happiness.

He is survived by his loving wife of eight years, Terri (née Willis) Wilson of Amherst; sons, Trent Wilson of Vermilion and Brady (Tessa) Wilson of Vermilion; his mother, Patty Marcum of Vermilion; stepdaughter, Ashley Riffe of Lorain; stepson, Ryan Riffe of Akron; and beloved grandchildren: Wade, Waylon, Warren, Arianna, Jackson, Bella, Gabby, Chad, Lilly, Evelyn, and Wayne. He is also survived by his brother, Steven (Geri) Wilson of Marion, OH; sister, Erica D. (Terry) Sansbury of Vermilion; half-brother, Patrick (Valerie) Wilson of Vermilion; half-sister, Lindsey (Lucas) Wright of Lorain; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James C. Wilson; maternal grandparents, Ambers and Ruth Marcum; and paternal grandparents, Earl and Josephine Wilson.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.  Pastor Jeff Sturdivant will officiate.
