James Thomas Adkins, 75, of Huron, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Specialty Hospital of Lorain, Amherst, after a lengthy illness. James was born August 31, 1937 in Ferrellsburg, WV. He had been a Vermilion- Huron resident for the past 52 years. He was a former member of the Vermilion Church of God and Vermilion Fish and Game. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and his grandchildren. James worked for Ford Automotive Plant in Lorain for 37 years retiring in 1993 as a tow motor operator. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty (nee Maynard) Adkins of Huron; son, Joe (Jeanne) Adkins of Cromwell, IN; daughter, Jeannie (Marvin) Holbrook of Vermilion; grandchildren, James Holbrook, Samantha Flesher, Ashley and Corey Christner, Leigh Smith, and Phillip Smith; great grandchildren, Andon, Violet, and Jesse Holbrook, Vincent and Chelsea Christner and Juan Cabrera; brother, John Adkins of Ferrellsburg, WV; sisters- in- law, Kay (Dan) Hershberger and Daisy (Herb) Brumfield, numerous nieces and nephews and son-in-law, Lewis Smith He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jula (nee Mullins) Adkins; beloved daughter, Robin Adkins Smith; brothers, Page, Harlen, Wetzel, Charlie, Rass; sisters, Della, Zella, Evie, Mayme, Vonda; and mother and father in law, Jeo and Peggy Maynard. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 21, 2012 from noon until the time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio.
