John B. Gattino, 83, formerly of Vermilion, died Friday, April 25, 2014 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky. He had been a resident of the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky for the past 5 years, and had been a Vermilion area resident for most of his life. John was born January 2, 1931 in Detroit, MI the son of the late Domenic and Laura (nee Morello) Gattino. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. John worked as a welder for Fruehauf Trailer Corp., and as an inspector at Ford Lorain Assembly Plant. He enjoyed gambling, and earlier in life owned his own racehorse. He was also a big University of Michigan fan. He is survived by his sister Laura Koss of Las Vegas, NV, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 10 am to 10:30 am at the Ohio Veterans Home, Griffin Chapel 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am.
