John Robert Diehl, 73, of Youngsville, PA , died Wednesday, June 29, 2022 after a lengthy illness. He was born March 17, 1949 in Lorain and had been a Pennsylvania resident for the past 21 years moving from Vermilion. John graduated from Vermilion High School class of 1967. He was a Veteran of the US Army serving during Vietnam. John worked as a supervisor for Ford Motor, Sandusky and had also worked for Frito-Lay and Lithonia Downlighting, Vermilion. John was a former member of St. Mary Parish, Vermilion and the American Legion Post #397. He enjoyed boating and spending time in the outdoors, especially at his cabin in Pennsylvania. He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Diehl of Lorain, son, Chris "CJ" (Tricia) Diehl of Vermilion; companion of 21 years, Betty Bunce and family; grandchildren: Jared, Ian, Christian, and Cameron; brother, Tom Diehl of Sandusky; and sister, Gail (Bob) Hentges of Vermilion; nephews, John Leahy and Mark Manning of Vermilion and his former wife, Victoria Diehl of Vermilion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert John and Norma Mae (nee Purcell) Diehl and his maternal grandparents, Tom and Louise Purcell. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Parish, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH 44089. Online condolences may be made at www.riddlefuneralhome.com.
