John W. Adams

John W. Adams, of Vermilion , died Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at his home in Vermilion after a brief illness. He was born January 30, 1937 in Sagamore, PA. and lived in Elyria Township since 1958. He moved to Vermilion in 1979. He worked at Ford Motor, Lorain, for 33 years. He began his career on the line and progressed through the ranks of management until he retired as Operations Manager in 1992. He was a key contributor to the launch of the Gran Torino. He served as an independent consultant for Ford Motor Company until 1997. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Vermilion where he served as chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee. He had a passion for the games of golf and bowling. He treasured his family and the campanionship of his dog, Levi. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Anna M. "Candy" Adams (nee Athey); daughters, Debra and her husband, Jon, Davisson of Amherst, Judy Kovacs of Sheffield Village and her fiance, John Shreve, Sr.; step son, Shane Naill of Vermilion; grandsons, Scott and Brian Remaklus of Amherst, , Joey & Katie Kovacs of Sheffield Village, Monroe, Brock and Kennedy Naill of Vermilion; and a brother, Lawrence G. Adams of Vermilion. Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank and Mary (nee Daskivich) Adams; 2 sisters, Grace Watterson and Inez Ellenberger . Friends may call Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 11 - 1 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 20, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 6716 West River Road, Vermilion. The Reverends Jerry Anderson and Donald Resecker will co-officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Ohio Division Inc., 10501 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44106
