Joseph M. Pritt, 63, of Rotonda West, FL, formerly of Vermilion, died Friday, May 4, 2012 at EMH Regional Health Center after a 12 year illness. Joseph was born August 30, 1948 in Charleston, W V. He had been a Florida resident for the past 10 years moving from Vermilion, OH, where he lived most of his life. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Joseph worked for US Steel, Lorain, as a crane operator for 30 years. He had attended West Ridge Baptist Church, Amherst and was a member of AMVETS Post 22 and the VFW Post 7576, Vermilion. He enjoyed classic cars, crossword puzzles, and singing. He also loved the coastal landscapes and the laughter of his family. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Wendy (nee Clow) Pritt of Rotonda West, FL; sons Joseph M. (Erin) Pritt, Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL, Joshua (Courtney) DeKam serving in the US Army in Germany, Jacob (Nikki) DeKam of Amherst, OH; daughters, Robin (Brian) Slone of Elyria, OH, Allison (Ted) Root of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Amanda, Daniel, Adam, McKenzie, Alyssa, Payton, Ava, Ethan and Alexis; great grandchild, Jordan and 2 brothers and 4 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marlin and Alice (nee Jones) Pritt, 2 brothers, Jack and Michael, and a grandson, Jerin Pritt. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 2-5 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Vermilion Veterans Council will present military honors on Monday, May 7, 2012 at the funeral home at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service. The Reverend Bill Hall will officiate.
