Karen L. Seil (nee Booth), 73, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at her home after fighting pancreatic cancer for just over a year. She was born November 30, 1943 in Canton, and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 22 years moving from Westlake. Karen worked for 37 years as a Human Resource Manager for the Department of Defense traveling extensively throughout the world handling personnel issues, retiring in 2004. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Vermilion, Vermilion Boat Club, and the Vermilion Lagoons Association. She was an avid sailor. Karen and her husband enjoyed spending winters living on their sailboat in the British Virgin Islands. She also enjoyed skiing, walking, and reading. Karen is survived by her husband of 46 years, Herbert Seil of Vermilion; mother, Gayle (nee Stark) Booth of North Canton; son, Aaron (Kristin) Seil of Hudson; daughter, Amanda Brieger of Barrington, RI; grandchildren: Henning, Eva, Luc, and Lydia; and her sisters, Colleen Craigg of North Canton and Claudia Roccus of Greentown, OH. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Booth and her sister, Kathleen Meadows. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Rev. Joan Skelley-Watts will officiate.
