Kathleen Ann Kukes

Kathleen Ann "Kathy" Kukes (nee Ross), age 77, of Sheffield Lake, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at UH St. John Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Born on January 26, 1947, in Akron, Ohio, Kathleen had been a resident of Sheffield Lake for the past 48 years after moving from Lorain.

Kathy dedicated 30 years of her life to nursing, working at The Lutheran Home, Saint Joseph Hospital, Lorain Community Hospital and later retiring from Bay Village Schools in 2010.

She had a passion for traveling, with Florida being a favorite destination. Kathleen also enjoyed shopping, reading, her daily coffee stops at Starbucks, and walking her beloved dog, Murphy. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by her daughters, Kristen (Ben) Doré of Sheffield Lake, Kelly Kukes of Elyria, and Lisa Kukes (fiancé Kris Guenther) of Sheffield Lake; her son, Douglas (Lezyl) Kukes of Lorain; and her grandchildren, Kyle, Jacob, Elliot, and Brandon. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard (Jackie) Ross of Canton and Thomas (Linda) Ross of Tallmadge, Ohio, as well as her sisters, Patricia (Larry) Schulz of Florida and Janice (Tom) Gage of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Lee Kukes, in 2012, and her parents, Richard and Lorraine (nee Neubauer) Ross.

Friends and family are invited to gather on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7:00 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Reverend Randy Crabtree will officiate. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Birmingham Cemetery in Wakeman.
