Kenneth D. Bailey, 79, of Lorain, died Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky after a lengthy illness. Born September 18, 1931 in Ivyton, KY he had been a Lorain resident for the past 54 years moving from West Virginia . Kenneth was a veteran of the United States Army. He served during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart. Kenneth worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain as an assembler for 31 1/2 years retiring in 1990. He is survived by his daughters, Dorothy Nazelrod of Vermilion, Deborah (Richard) Smith of Helotes, TX, and Terri (Jeff) Schmidt of Oberlin; son, Michael (Patty) Bailey of Hamondsville, Ohio; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Freda (nee Canterbury) Bailey on August 12, 2003; and his parents Donald and Rose (nee Prater) Bailey. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 6-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion OH. Funeral services will be Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Pastor Vinton Morgan will officiate. Interment will follow at Birmingham Cemetery, Birmingham where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
