Leo J. Potyrala, 91 of Lorain, died Saturday, July 22, 2006 in New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph. He was born January 28, 1915 in Lorain and has been a lifelong resident. He worked at the US Steel Plant in Lorain in the conditioning department, retiring in 1977. He had also served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Lexington, Ohio. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Lorain and bowled in the Senior Friendship and Senior Couples Leagues. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening. Survivors include his wife, Jennie (nee Cyran) Potyrala of 44 years; daughter, Barbara Morrow of Amherst; sons, Ken of Lorain, Ted of Battle Creek, Michigan and Russell of Kettering; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded-in-death by his parents, Peter and Victoria (nee Wojtowicz) Potyrala, sisters, Rose Creahan, Pearl Dzambik, Hattie Kozal, Sally Kretovics and Mary Grace and brothers, Chester, Walter, Emil and Joseph Potyrala. Friends may call Monday 4-8 pm at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Closing prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9:30 am on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
