Leonard B Cooksey, 85, of Huron, died Sunday, November 25, 2007 at the Norwalk Memorial Home after a lengthy illness. He was born January 1, 1922 in Bowling Green, KY, and had lived in Huron for 51 years moving from Lorain. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a carpenter for American Ship, Lorain. He was a life member of VFW Post # 7576, Vermilion. He enjoyed fishing. . Survivors include daughters, Beatrice Squire of Lansing, MI Barbara Cooksey of Huron; sons, Garland Cooksey of Huron, Noah Cooksey of Salida , CO, Alven Cooksey of Sandusky; and 2 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his wife, Bonnie Cooksey, Oct 21, 2003; his parents, infant twins, and 3 sisters, Ivell, Virginia and Kathryn . Friends may call Friday, November 30, 2007 from 4-7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military services at 6:30 p.m. Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 1 p.m. The Reverend Joe Woodyard, pastor of Mount Harvest Church of God will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 or Norwalk Memorial Home, 272 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, Ohio 44857.
