Marianne Antosiak

January 5, 1925 — February 4, 2014

Marianne Helena Antosiak (nee Andrzejewski), 89, of Lorain, died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the University of Michigan Hospital after a sudden illness. Marianne was born January 5, 1925 in Bruay, France. She married Joseph Antosiak on Oct. 12, 1946 in Lowningen, Germany. They moved from England to Lorain in 1956 where she had lived until moving to Howell, MI in 2007. Marianne had worked at St. Joseph Hospital in the housekeeping department until she retired in 1987. She was a member of Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain where she had been active with the Altar and Rosary Society. She had also been a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post #38. She enjoyed watching t.v., especially The Little House on The Prairie and the Walton's. She also enjoyed singing, sewing, knitting, traveling and bird watching. Marianne was fluent in several languages including: French, German, Polish, and English. She had attended Queen Elizabeth's Coronation in England, and loved to follow the Royal Family. She is survived by her son, Mark Antosiak of Howell, MI; daughter, Dorothy and Ted Wayman of Orlando, FL; grandson, Daniel (Natalie) Wayman of Schenectady, NY; sisters, Jeanna and Jadviega of Germany; sister-in-law, Alina Davoli; and niece, Anna (Jack) Broz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 2005; son, Raymond in 2011; and parents, Ladislas and Marianne (nee Michalak) Antosiak. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 09, 2014 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Dombrowski-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio where the Altar and Rosary Society will have a memorial rosary said at 3:30pm . Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at 11:00 am followed by a 11:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. The Rev. Robert J. Glepko will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
