Nicholas James O'Dell

Nicholas James O'Dell, 65, of Birmingham, died Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Hospice at the Renaissance, Olmsted Falls, after a 9 month illness. Nicholas was born June 2, 1946 in Norwalk, and has been a life long Wakeman area resident. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Nicholas owned and operated O'Dell's Energy Savers, a glass coating and tinting service in Wakeman. He had also worked for Firelands Schools as a janitor and in the machine shop at North Ridge Industries. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Birmingham, where he served on the building and grounds committee. He also served as an usher and deacon. He enjoyed watching TV, working in his yard and woodworking projects. He is survived by his wife, Pat O'Dell (nee Jones); 2 daughters, Theresa (Jason) Shipman of Vermilion, and Christina Nicole O'Dell of Birmingham; a brother, Richard (Sandi) O'Dell of Huron; and sisters, Virginia (Ed) Logan, Illinois and Margaret (Bud) Needles, North Fairfield. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Eugene O'Dell Sr., mother, Margaret (nee Ostrander) O'Dell, and brother, Howard Eugene O'Dell Jr. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Birmingham, 5918 St. Rt. 60, Birmingham, Ohio from 11 am -1 pm and 4 until the time of the service at 6 pm. Pastor Dr. Marvin Osborn will officiate. Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion is entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.riddlefuneralhome.com.
