Ralph Edwin Smith, age 98, of Vermilion, Ohio passed away on September 3, 2014 of natural causes. He was born in Geneva, Ohio on September 6, 1915 to parents Jake and Laura Smith. He graduated from AshtabulaHigh School and married Mae Alice Evans. Ralph Smith worked as a sawyer and by the age of 18 managed his own crew. He later developed and ran his own woodworking company, Smith Handle & Manufacturing. He led a full and active life, participating in the Vermilion Rotary Club as secretary-treasurer and numerous hobbies, including bowling, roller skating, camping, boating, and woodworking. He was a devoted father and loving grandfather who was very involved in the lives of his family members. Ralph Smith is survived by his daughter, Susan Terken, son-in-law Dave Terken, two grandchildren, Laneen and Tonya Terken, and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, Mae Alice Smith, son Jerry Lee Smith, and siblings Karl, Kenneth, Claude, and his sister. Private graveside services will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Vermilion, Ohio.
