Raymond E. Riley, 81 of Vermilion, died Sunday, January 31, 2010 at home surrounded by his family. He was born December 7, 1928 in Buckhannon, West Virginia and lived in Vermilion since 1962, moving from Lorain. Ray served in the United States Army as a combat engineer during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Ford Motor Company in Lorain as a booth cleaner, retiring in 1989 after 31 years. He had previously drove a cement truck and was a logger in West Virginia. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren. and Sunday dinners with the family. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Norma Jean Riley (nee Black); sons, Raymond "Matt" Riley of Vermilion and Jesse Joe (Jenn) Riley of New London; daughter, Raimie Riley-Gaudiello of Huron; grandchildren, Raymond and Patrick Riley, Shawn Molnar, Matty Allgauer, Nathan Gaudiello, Jacob, Jayla, Jacy, and Jessa Riley; sister, Pauline Lee of West Virginia. He was preceded-in-death by his parents, Bernard and Zelda May (nee Lee) Riley, brothers, Jess Lee, Ralph Riley, Ford Riley, Rosco Riley and Bud Riley and a sister, Mabel Macray. Friends may call Wednesday, February 3, 2010 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 4 pm. Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 11:00 am. Reverend David Johnson, pastor of Church of the Nazarene, will officiate.
