Robert M. Folger

Robert "Bob" M. Folger, 88 of Vermilion, died Sunday, February 10, 2008 in Community Health Partners, Lorain after a lenghty illness. He was born July 21, 1919 in Verdon, SD and has been a Vermilion resident since 1967 moving from Cleveland Hts. and Detroit, MI. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp earning the rank of 2nd. Lieutenant and also served in the Cleveland Air Reserves. He worked as an air traffic control area supervisor at the Oberlin control center and had also worked at Republic Steel and American Airlines after returning from the service. He was a past member of Vermilion Lions Club, and in 1937 he worked with the Billy Rose Great Lake's Expo., Cleveland and swam with Jonnie Weissmuller. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his daughter, Greta Remali of Vermilion; sons, Russell Griffin of Pentwater, MI and John Remali of Sheffield Village; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 4 nephews. Preceding him in death were his wife, Esther Folger in 2000, parents, Clifford and Edith (nee Coats) Folger, brother, Jack Folger and sister, Marian Folger. The family will receive friends on Thursday Feb. 14, 2008 from 10 am until the time of funeral services at 12 noon at the Riddle Funeral Home 5345 South St. Vermilion. The Rev. Mike Levelle will officiate. Private inurnment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at the funeral home at 12 noon.
