Rodney Allen "Al" Rogers, Sr., 56, of Vermilion, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Mercy New Life Hospice following a brief illness. Al was born March 15, 1961 in Cleveland, OH and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 36 years moving from Elyria. Al worked in receiving at Ross Environmental Services, Inc. in Elyria and for Ed's Transmission in Elyria rebuilding transmissions. He was a deacon at Vermilion First Assembly of God Church for the past 4 years. He enjoyed hunting, working on cars, and watching the Cleveland Indians and Green Bay Packers. He is survived by his wife, Valnetta Rogers (nee Perkins); son, Rodney Allen Rogers, Jr.; grandchildren, Ryan and Sabrina Rogers; brothers, David (Lynett) Rogers, Billy (Silka) Rogers, and Randy (Kim) Rogers; sisters, Kathy (Mike) Keener, Nancy (Mike) Born, Debbie Rogers, Sue (Pat) Paulding, Lisa (Ken) Reed, and Donna (Erick) Hovatter; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" and Jannie Rogers (nee Tennent). The family will receive friends on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of a funeral service at 11:00 am at Vermilion First Assembly of God Church, 4931 Southview Drive, Vermilion, OH.
