Ronald Reid Shobert, 86, of Vermilion, died Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness. He was born September 28, 1929 in Dubois, PA and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 58 years. Ronald served in the National Guard. He worked as a police officer for B&O Railroad and then General Motors. He retired as a line worker from General Motors after 19 years in1987. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Vermilion, Masonic Ely Lodge #424, El Rey Grotto Lodge Clown Unit, Bellevue Nickel Plate Railroad Museum, and the Friends of Harbourtown train depot renovation. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Oral (nee Henley) Shobert; sons, Ronald Lee (Donna) Shobert of Parma and Donald Lynn (Joyce) Shobert of Edgewater, FL; grandchildren, Renee Dean, Lori Dawn, Adam Wade, and Devon Marie; great-grandchildren, Allison, Dalton, and Bailey; and his brother, David Samuel Shobert of Du Bois, PA He was preceded in death by his parents, DeWitt Ralph and Ethlyn (nee Reid) Shobert; brother, Kenneth Shobert; and sister, Gloria Ann. Private family services will be held. The family suggests memorial contributions to Alzheimer's Association, 2500 N. Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH 43615.
