Rosemary Smith

Vermilion - Rosemary Smith (nee Holder), 75 of Vermilion, died Thursday, May 29, 2003 in New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a one month illness. She was born October 21, 1927 in Lorain, Ohio. She lived in Vermilion most of her life. She had also lived in Sanford, North Carolina and Fort Collins, Colorado. She worked for Thew Shovel in Lorain as a cost accountant until 1956. She also worked for Tuttle Insurance, Leimbach Insurance and Allen Thorley DeLloyd Insurance Agencies in Vermilion as a customer service representative and insurance agent. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was past secretary for the Business & Professional Women in Vermilion. She was also a member of Vermilion AMVETS Auxiliary Post #22 and AL-ANON. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, crosswords puzzles, gardening and reading. Survivors include daughters, Barbara Crouse of Baltimore, MD ; Karin Curtis of Vermilion; Bonnie VanValkenburg of Vermilion; Beth Anne Boshnett of Melbourne, FL; sons, Richard Smith of Oviedo, FL, and Kevin Smith of Vermilion; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Anne Maybelle Zinsmayer of Fairview Park, OH and brother, Henry Holder of Virginia Beach , VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lee Smith in 1986, brothers, Ralph and Harold Holder and her parents, Henry and Anna Barbara (nee Moes) Holder. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2003 at 10 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion with Fr. Steve Blum, pastor. officiating. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, at a later date.
