Stephen M. Demko, 62 of Vermilion, died Monday, September 3, 2007 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born July 1, 1945 in Lorain and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 35 years moving from Lorain. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam. He worked as the Assistant Principal for Marion L. Steele High School and then Principal for the former Shupe Elementary School, Amherst, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Loco Brits MG Club and enjoyed restoring old British cars. He also enjoyed photography, woodworking, reading, and was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed canoeing and hiking. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Becky Demko; sons, Ben Demko of Cleveland, and Adam Demko of Westlake; mother, Victoria (nee Piros) Coteff of Lorain; and brother, Chris Coteff of San Antonio, TX. Preceding him in death were his father, Stephen Demko, and step-father Boris "Bud" Coteff. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 2 pm at the Ss. Cyril & Methodius Orthodox Church Complex 3056 Reeves Avenue Lorain.
