A light was extinguished on July 24, 2009 when our little girl, Vada May Hauff, died. She fought brain cancer for a year with courage and grace, while living each joyful day to the fullest. Born on July 4, 2000 Vada entered this world with a bang and touched more hearts in her short life than most people do in a lifetime. Vada never met a stranger, and was embraced and loved by young and old alike. She was an honorary member of the Red Hat Society, and won the 2009 Award for Courage at Vermilion Intermediate School. She loved animals and was a volunteer fundraiser for Humane Ohio. She was preceded in death by her daddy, Tom Hauff. She is survived by her grandparents, Hazel and Dick Hauff, her mother, Heather Haddix; half brothers, Joe and Michael Haddix and many other relatives and friends. She will be especially missed by her God parents, Cindy and Keith, her Aunt Susan, Uncle Jeff and Aunt Rebecca. Friends may call at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion on Sunday, July 26, 2009 from 5-9 p.m. Prayers will be said Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, July 27 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. Father Jim Holmer will officiate. Interment will follow in Peaks Cemetery in Berlin Heights. The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to friends, family and neighbors for their love and support. They extend special thanks to the staff at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, New Life Hospice and Griswold Care Givers. Donations can be made in Vada's name to the Ronald McDonald House, 10415 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, Ohio 44106 or Humane Ohio.org, Humane Ohio, 5333 Secor Road Unit 4, Toledo, Ohio 43623.
