Verna W. Micheller (nee Walters), 86 of Vermilion, died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness. She was born May 17, 1922 in Wellington and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 61 years. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a hospital apprentice First Class. Verna worked as a practical nurse for Lorain Community Hospital and in private duty nursing for numerous nursing homes, including Kingston of Vermilion. She retired in 1981. She was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Vermilion and also volunteered at Lorain Community Hospital for many years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Candace (McMullen) and Roger Kuebel of Wenham, Massachusetts and son, Kevin McMullen of Vermilion; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded-in-death by her husband, Robert E. Micheller in 1993; a son, Samuel Markman on March 27, 2008 and her parents, Herschel and Ruth (nee Dague) Walters. A memorial services will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
