Walter Baron, 87, of Lorain, died Monday, March 3, 2014 at Main Street Care Center after a lengthy illness. Walter was born March 31, 1926 in Lvov, Ukraine. He came to the United States in 1960 from England and moved to the Vermilion area in 1962. He worked at the Ford Assembly plant in Lorain and retired in 1991 after 29 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and UAW Local # 425. He enjoyed gardening and walking. He is survived by his sons, Peter (Michelle) Baron of Strongsville and Thomas Baron of Vermilion; grandchildren, Geoffrey (Julie), Courtney, Amy and Kristen Baron and a great grandson, Avery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Baron July 11, 2013, his brother, Peter Baran, and his parents. The family will receive friends Friday, March 7, 2014 from 10 a.m. until the time of a service at 11 a.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion OH. Reverend Mark Telepak, Cross Roads Hospice chaplain will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Alzheimer's Association, Northwest OH Chapter 2500, North Reynolds Road, Toledo, OH 43615-2820.
