Dr. William C. MacBane, 95, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at The Gardens of Western Reserve, Cuyahoga Falls. William was born June 16, 1920 in Lakewood, OH and had been a Vermilion resident for 40 years before moving to Cuyahoga Falls. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII. On August 22, 1959 he married the love of his life, Julia A. Daugherty. They enjoyed 49 wonderful years together till she passed away on September 16, 2008. Dr. MacBane owned and operated his own Podiatrist practice in Lakewood retiring in 1972 after 40 years. He was a member of Lakewood Lodge #601, the Shrine, and a life member of the Vermilion AMVETS Post #22 and VFW Post #7576. He enjoyed woodworking, egg carving, model railroads, fishing, golfing, bowling, and spending time with his pets. He leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Holly Daugherty Fash (Flagstaff, AZ), Bill Daugherty (Silver Lake, OH), Jim Daugherty (Eugene, OR) and Sara Daugherty Machado (Torrance, CA), and their families, who loved him like a father, a daughter from a previous marriage, Dorothy A. O'Neill (Stongsville, OH) and her family. He was preceded by his wife Julia A. (nee Daugherty) MacBane; and his parents, Neil and Corinne (nee Trucksis) MacBane. A memorial service at Volunteer Bay Club House will be announced at a later date. Private inurnment will take place in Salem, OH. Arrangements are entrusted to Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The family suggests memorial contributions to Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, OH 44870 or Shriners Children's Burn Hospital, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45229.
