William "Beef" Horvath, 93 of Lorain, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at his son's home in Oberlin following a recent decline in health. He was born December 6, 1914 in Lorain and had been a lifelong resident. He worked as a shipbuilder for 40 years at American Ship in Lorain. He and his late wife Lucille also operated a neighborhood tavern on E Street near the shipyard. He is survived by his sons, Richard Horvath of Amherst and William Horvath of Oberlin; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elsie McKinnon and Irene Thomas, both of Lorain; brother, John Horvath of Lorain. He was preceded-in-death by his wife of 68 years in August 2006, Lucille (nee Karpinski) Horvath and parents, John and Rose (nee Pongracz) Horvath. Friends may call on Monday, December 31, 2007 from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
