William Edward Bassett, 93, of Tallmadge, died Monday, July 22, 2013 at Essex Healthcare of Tallmadge after a lengthy illness. William was born June 29, 1920 in Cleveland. He was one of eight children with one sister remaining. He had lived in Beulah Beach, Vermilion, Ohio, since 1984 moving from Brookpark. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II as an X-Ray Technician. William worked for North American Manufacturing in Cuyahoga Heights and was in charge of receiving on the dock. He was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church and operated the campground at Beulah Beach. He enjoyed wood carving and bicycling. . He is survived by his son, Larry Bassett of Mogadore; his daughter, Jacqueline Moravcik of Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Virginia in 2011; and sons, Donald and Douglas. A Memorial Service will be held, Aug. 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Military honors will be conducted by the Vermilion Veterans Council. Reverend Nick Cacciatore, pastor of the Evangelical and Reformed Church, will officiate. Inurnment will be in North Royalton Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.riddlefuneralhome.com.
