William Griggs, 95, of Vermilion, died Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Mercy New Life Hospice after a lengthy illness. He was born December 11, 1924 in Vermilion where he had been a life long resident. William worked for M.A. Harrison, Birmingham as a foreman for 36 years retiring in 1988. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and he especially enjoyed family gatherings. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-laws, Darlene and Mark Green of Vermilion and Donna and Bill Chester of Pueblo West, CO; sons and daughter-in-laws, Terry and Judy Griggs of Fremont and Robert and Robyn Griggs of Elyria; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby (nee Taylor) Griggs; parents, Wesley and May Virginia (nee Haskins) Griggs; son, William Walter Griggs; brothers, Frank, Lyman, Robert, Wesley, Richard, and Norman Griggs; sisters, Lillian Clark and Vera Gorka; and his infant sisters, Rita and Alice. Friends and family who want to come are welcome to attend, but due to Covid-19, we are asking that people be careful to maintain social distancing, wear masks, and refrain from embracing. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 Noon at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Interment will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. The family suggests memorial contributions to Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, OH 44053.
