â William J. Wilson, 85, of Vermilion, died Monday, January 30, 2017 at Ohio Veteran's Home after a lengthy illness. â He was born August 10, 1931 in St. Catharines, Ontario and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 60 years moving from Buffalo, NY. â William was a veteran of the US Army serving as a paratrooper during the Korean War and Japanese Occupation. He received the Bronze Star during his service. â He worked for Ford Motor Co. as a small parts material handler for 32 years retiring in 1988. â William attended St. Mary Catholic Church and was a member of Amvets Post #22, Vermilion. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, shooting pool, and was an avid Cleveland sports fan. â He is survived by his sons, William (Cindy) Wilson of Vermilion and Scott Wilson of Vermilion; daughters, Janet (David) Williams of Vermilion and Julie Ebel of Vermilion; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Nancy Kalin and Mary Hancock both of Canada. â He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (nee Leitch) Wilson in 2011; parents, Albert and Margaret (nee Ferrigan) Wilson; and his brothers, Alan and Kenneth Wilson. â Private graveside services for immediate family will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion where the Military Honors will be conducted. â Memorial contributions are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 â Online condolences may be made at www.riddlefuneralhome.com
