Woodrow "Woody" Wright, 92, of Lorain, died Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky after a short illness. He was born Feb. 5, 1917 in Gassaway, W.V. and has been a life long Lorain resident. Woody was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII. He worked for National Tube, Lorain as a crane operator for over 20 years and then maintained Shoreway Shopping Center in Sheffield Lake and Oakwood Shopping Center in Lorain until he retired in 1997. He was a member of the Abby Road Baptist Church, Elyria. He enjoyed racing stock cars and super modified cars at the Sandusky Speedway and Lorain Co. Speedway for over 50 years. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Wanda Wright; 4 grandchildren: Melinda, Anita, Robert, and Leon Jr; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Emory Robert Stonewall and Talitha (nee James) Wright; brother, Oak; and sisters Geraldine, Delphia, Arlene, and Goldie. Private burial will take place in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Avon.
