Achille "Augie" Rossi, 80, of Vermilion, died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a lengthy illness. Born May 16, 1930 in Warren, OH he has been a Vermilion resident for the past 48 years moving from Lorain. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. Augie worked for RE Warner and Associates in Lorain and retired from MK Ferguson, Cleveland in 1993 after 38 years as an Electrical Engineer. He was a member of AMVETS Post #22 and enjoyed his family, gardening, tracking local weather statistics, and had been an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Marilynn (nee Gehl) Rossi; son, Fedele "Fred" (Karen) Rossi of Vermilion; daughters, Louise (Bob) Leeds of Exton, PA and Jean (Don) Griffaw of Temperance, MI; 7 grandchildren; brother, Louis Rossi of Warren, OH; and a sister, Fannie Montecalvo of Cortland, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fedele and Giovina (nee Crivelli) Rossi; and sisters, Rose Laufenberg and Quinnie Watson. Friends may call Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 11 until the time of a memorial service at 12 Noon at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. The Reverend Terry Parker will officiate. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honor at 12 Noon, prior to the memorial service.
